Rares Caluseriu is a percussion performer, educator and clinician based in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is an active freelancer and performs regularly with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra and works closely with the Lodge and Aire Born recording studios. Prior to his move to Indianapolis he taught as an Adjunct Professor of Percussion at Virginia Commonwealth University and performed with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra, the Commonwealth Winds, the European Wind Ensemble, the Richmond Pops, and the Waynesboro Symphony Orchestra. While in Germany, Mr. Caluseriu had a one-year contract with the Aachen Symphony Orchestra. He was also a member of the Kammer Philharmonie Amadé Chamber Ensemble and the Notabu Ensemble for New Music.

Rares Caluseriu has toured France, Germany, Romania, Israel and Switzerland as a soloist as well as with the Aachen Symphony Orchestra, the UNI Orchestra Duesseldorf and the Rythmodia Percussion Quartett. He is the winner of a 2004 DAAD (Deutsche Akademische Austausch Dienst) fellowship and the 2003 E. On Fellowship for Music. Rares Caluseriu received a Master’s degree in Percussion Performance from Robert Schumann School of Music in Dusseldorf, Germany. He studied with acclaimed percussionists Kovacs Janos and Grigore Pop in Romania, Reinhold Gieschke and Peter Stracke in Dusseldorf, Germany and Craig Hetrick in Indianapolis.
