In a culture that relegates music to a “secondary” status among academic subjects, many perceive music as little more than a hobby. The “practical” knowledge and learned in other subjects diminishes music’s place in the schools, crowding it out of class time and students’ schedules. But what if I told you that the lessons learned in the music room are just as deeply practical as those of other subjects—perhaps even more so?
Life Lessons from the Music Room
In this new blog series, we will explore the important life lessons students learn in the music room that they may not learn elsewhere. Along the way, we’ll learn from musicians of different backgrounds and hear their experiences of the life lessons they’ve learned from participating in music. From perseverance to teamwork, to self-expression, to confidence; music has a wealth of lessons to offer that help students grow and develop not only as artists but also as flourishing members of society.
Join us next week as we begin by discussing perseverance and the valuable opportunities music gives us to learn how to endure through resistance and overcome it.
Learn these lessons and more by studying with our amazing instructors!
