"Why Music Matters"

ESSAY CONTEST

At Vibe Music Academy, we firmly believe in music education’s vital importance to our society, and that is why we are passionate about sharing our love of music with our students every day. Although we could go on about why music matters forever, we would love to know what you, our students have to say on the subject. This is why we are presenting the first ever Vibe Music Academy Essay Contest!

We encourage all interested students to submit a brief essay on “why music matters” to participate in the contest. Winners will receive a $50 gift certificate to the music retailer of their choice as well as have their essays published on the Vibe Music Academy blog!

Interested? Here are the essay requirements:

• Written in paragraph form with an original title

• Formatted as a Microsoft Word document (.doc or.docx) or Google doc

• 12 pt. Times New Roman font, double spaced

• 300 words minimum to 600 words maximum

• Include citations for outside sources (outside sources are not required, but if they are used, they must be properly cited.)

Essays will be evaluated on both form and content, so for best success, students should strive for thoughtful organization and grammatical correctness. Plagiarism will not be tolerated.
